If buildings could talk

What would this building say if it could talk?
Words that can be said not written in chalk,
Especially one that has seen so much,
What it would it say if we could just touch?
Would it tell of lovers in each other arms?
Filled with the passion of it's secluded charm,
A hunger filled passion bumping it's wall,
A couple joined together feeling 10 feet tall,
Would it tell the story of a child riding a bike,
Learning for the first time oh what a hike?
His little legs pedaling as fast as he can
He crashes the bike and cries on becoming a man,
And the little girl who lined up her dolls so pretty,
On the doorstep of the building it seems so silly,
That a building could share what has happened before,
It could tell tales for hours creating it's own folklore,
For all that has happened down through the years,
Buildings can tell of happy times- crowds that cheer,
They can tell the true story of the history,
That surrounds the world with mystery,
Good times, bad time and everything in between,

A building could tell tales of things that are unseen.

Day 31, Saturday. 10 things that you are grateful for today

Well today is the last day of our "Blog for August" Marathon.  There are so many things to be grateful for and narrowing it down to ten will be fun.  I will write more poetry along the way but probably not everyday as I have a very hectic school semester this fall.  Until next time enjoy!

I am grateful for so many things
so here is my list sure to bring,
A smile to your face for everything nice
filled to the brim with sugar and spice,
The first thing I can say I am grateful for,
My loving husband who is never a bore,
Finding a man who is a soul mate,
to share my life- thank god for this fate,
A daughter named Tiffany who is my heart,
An awesome young lady from the start,
And then there is Meghan my second born child,
Who fills my life with her spirit all of the while,
And let's not forget my beautiful Crystal,
She can make me laugh she is such a pistol,
And never forget I have the greatest son,
Cory I love you for all you have done,
And last but not least would have to be,
Elizabeth the teacher I am proud to see,
All of my children have found their way,
In a world of confusion I have to say,
I am proud of them all they are all great adults,
I am grateful they have turned out with amazing results,
The 7th thing I am grateful for is the rest of my family,
Who watch my mistakes and make me see,
that family is the best when you let love guide you,
We are family after all stuck together like glue,
The eighth thing to be grateful for my a gift to write,
A dream turned reality finally coming to light,
And you my readers would be my ninth thing,
To thank god for your patience while I get my wings,
And the tenth would be for friends and this life that I live,
For giving me the gifts to be able to give what I give.
And there it is done my list of things to be grateful,
may my life continue to be loving and never be hateful.

Day 30, Friday. A celebrity crush from your youth – spill the beans!

Only one more to go after this :-(

A child hood crush has got to be,
One of the toughest especially,
When your crush is known far and wide,
Listen close and I will confide,
The only boy for me as a teen,
was Richie Sambora if it could have been,
I wish I had met him when I had my looks,
My youth is spent I wish I had took,
a chance to go and get to know him,
But I already knew that chance was slim,
So I just went on with my own life,
And forgot about becoming this mans wife,
His guitar to this day still makes me shudder,
And to look at him now makes my heart flutter,
He has only gotten better looking with age,
Eye candy for sure playing on that stage,
With his life long pal and a band named bon jovi,
He was special then  and now special indeed,
So his name is secretly engraved on my heart,
That way I know we are never apart.

Day 29, Thursday. A funny memory

It sure has been challenging and fun!  We are down to the final 3 days of our blog posts and I must say it has been a wonderful experience for me!  My writing has really taken off and my blog has over 1400 views in less than a month!  This to me, as a writer, says more than any dollar sign ever could!  I know people are reading my poems and that is all I want and more!  Thank you to my readers you make it all worthwhile! Now on to today's post!

A funny memory there are so many, how do I narrow it down to one?
I am thinking and remembering something so funny, I almost peed my pants when it was done,
A memory to me that is bittersweet but I can not seem to remember anything else,
Except how I cried because I laughed so hard the tears I wiped away myself,

Some people will not think this story so funny especially when I tell you what we saw,
We went to the movies that night to see Eddie Murphy on stage in his production of "Raw",
The movie itself was hilarious but what made me laugh was the irony of Eddie's words,
He was living my life up on that screen every word hit home the moment was so absurd,

His laughing and joking about infidelity and divorce had me rolling on my side,
The man sitting next to me stonily could only stare because he knew he had lied,
And me sitting there next to him pretending that I didn't have a clue,
About where he had been that day and more importantly with who,

Time has a way healing a heart and by this time I was pretty much done,
I was wishing at this point for divorce but wanted him to be the one,
To suggest leaving and slamming that door so I could just move on,
But alas it just fizzled out along with the things that he had done,

We never talked about that day and his long lists of indiscretions,
My life moved on without him but I am grateful for the lessons,
Of how a man is not supposed to treat a wife especially one so good,
It opened my heart and my life to a man who treats his wife as he should.

Day 28, Wednesday. Selfie! Share a favourite photo of yourself or take a new one

This is one of my most fabulous pictures!  It is the picture of myself with my husband and our granddaughter, Anna, out for a day on the river.  It was a picture perfect day with all of us surrounded by our greatest treasure- our family.  It is the great days like this that make a life worth living.  Need I say more?

Day 27, Tuesday. Five interview questions for a historical figure

If I had a chance to interview anyone that ever lived,
What would be the questions to ask what would I give?
The person I would want to interview would have to be,
Eleanor of Acquitaine who better to ask besides she?
Married to two kings and kept in the tower,
Mother to princes oh why the bother?
What would you do different if you could?
Would be the first question if you would,
Be so kind as to answer this- historians would agree,
The most important question for us from history,
The second would have to be what did you learn?
From all the drama of your time it's your turn,
To tell us your story in your own words,
Why did you back Richard? Would have to be the third,
And were you surprised to live in a time,
Where women were disregarded and kept in a hard line?
Henry tried everything and labeled you traitor,
What would you say to him now in a time so much greater?
Would it make a difference if you had lived now,
Where women can vote - stand up and take a bow,
Because you see if you had not suffered and did what you did,
Women today would be slighter still fighting for a bid,
To be considered equals by all the men in the land,
Thank you for your service and lending your hand,
And what would you think of this world that we live in,
This woman before her time would think it full of sin,
She could dress like a man and fight for her family,
She could lead her sons to greatness without going boldly,
Her world would have been so different no tower to keep her,
She could give her support and have a voice without saying sir,
She would be a force to be reckoned with, Oh the tales to be told,
And history as we know it would never unfold.
Could she appreciate the times and how she helped us get here,
Or would she opt out to stay in her time over there?
Her sacrifices were great and her life anything but sublime,
She was a great woman of history born way before her time.

Day 26, Monday. Ten things that make you smile

Day 26, Monday. Ten things that make you smile

Ten things that make you smile
In poetry this might take a while,
The first is my husband's kiss,
The second my fabulous sis,
The third would have to be my mom,
The fourth my dad quite the bomb,
The fifth would be my sons and daughters,
The sixth studying England history matters,
The seventh a butterfly on a flower,
The eight A burning hot shower,
The ninth would be the love that fills me,
The tenth boating in summer out on the sea,
These are the things that can make me smile,
And leave me with good feelings all the while.
