About Me

My photo

Hi and welcome to my blog.  Hopefully you have visited my blog to read some of my writing.  Nothing beats finding that perfect poem, phrase or story to explain how you are feeling.  Often times I am asked to write something through my group on Facebook entitled "Prompted".  This group will give me a picture or a phrase and I have to write something containing it.  The first prompt for which I wrote "The Flight" required three words, owl, lightning and pudding.  The second was my basis for "Wide Awake" Sometimes I just have a feeling and start writing and when this happens just let me be.  A combination of these writings are what I wish to convey to you, my reader.  I hope that my writing touches you in the same way it touches me as I write it because isn't that the purpose of a poem is to feel it?

Rumor Has It

Rumor has it that things are taking place,
No reason, no rhyme, no saving face,
Your unwelcome attention drives me mad,
But rumor has it that your crazy just a tad,

Tongues that go wagging, words meant to cut,
Makes me rise higher because I feel them in my gut,
Words are my friends and I use them well,
You just didn't know it, I guess you couldn't tell,

And the gossip mill is spinning with all that hot air,
Your lies are my friend they make you seem bare,
I am who I am and I am sorry for your fate,
The words you spew speak for your hate,

My words won't change they speak true,
Rumor has it that you don't have a clue,
The more you lie and try to sow dissent,
Show wasted words, your character's spent,

I know that I can rise above your lies,
My character speaks words while yours die,
So I will continue to be me no matter what,
And rumor can have it your lies are just that.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is coming approaching too fast,
Nobody notices anymore the die is cast,
They are giving it up to barge right on through,
To Christmas day and it makes me blue,
A holiday meant to be for the bounty,
Thankful for friends in the next county,
Pilgrims and Indians celebrating as one,
Thankful and Grateful for all they had done,
The very first feast was all about food,
The harvests that year were awfully good,
The Indians they taught the Pilgrims good stuff,
How to live on a continent with barely enough,
How to grow crops way out of season,
And give thanks for the bounty without reason,
Two different people coming together,
Without any prompting what so ever,
Maybe we can learn something after all,
The lessons are there if we heed the call,
Be thankful every day for all that you got,
And learn to appreciate your life and your lot,
Take the time and just enjoy Thanksgiving,
Leave Christmas in December and start living,
The stores need to close and give time off,
For people to appreciate and have enough,
Time off to enjoy this day with family and friends,
Opportunity abounds around every bend,
Remember the first time they celebrated this day,
And learn history's lesson it will lead the way.
